Product Description

What we say "I first got tipped off about this by the makeup artist Katie Jane Hughes and I’m now addicted.

It’s a super multitasker and is great on dry skin, but if you want the glossy skin look it is just the hands-down best thing.

I apply lightly all over my face before BB cream, and more heavily on cheek/brow bones. I look so healthy after applying!"
- Lucia, Merchandiser
Weleda Skin Food a rich cream to deep nourish, protect and repair skin. For dry and rough skin.

A deep-penetrating replenishing skin repair cream for dry patches of skin and for added winter protection. Contains extracts of soothing chamomile, calendula wild pansy and a blend of enriching oils and waxes to provide a fine protective barrier against the ravages of wind and weather.

A favourite of Red Magazine's Beauty Director, Sophie Forte:
“When I kept seeing this on makeup artists’ tables backstage at the shows and on shoots, I was intrigued to try it. Now I see why.

Sure, it’s generally too much to use all over the face (unless I’m on a plane, in which case it’s a brilliantly occlusive barrier to dehydration), but it’s richly nourishing texture lends itself wonderfully to adding sheen to cheekbones and lips instead of using a pearl highlighter product and is an instant panacea to skin that’s remotely red or rough.”

Even before the addition of the plant extracts and essential oils the base itself is food for dry skin.

Hypoallergenic lanolin, Sweet Almond oil and Sunflower Seed oil are three of the main ingredients of the base. Lanolin, chemically, is almost identical to sebum, the natural oil produced by the skin.

It is therefore an ideal substance to 'feed' to dry skin. Both Almond and Sunflower Seed oil soften and soothe the skin and also assist in the penetration of other soothing, rejuvenating ingredients.

Skin Food can be used as a nourishing day and night cream. It is good for rough, dry skin anywhere on the body; face, hands, elbows, knees etc.

It can be used as a protective cream in harsh weather and is excellent for anyone regularly out of doors.

Weleda is a cruelty-free brand; they do not test any of their products on animals.

Directions

A little goes a long way, so apply sparingly.

This very rich cream is best applied to the face by gently patting on, so as to avoid dragging the skin. Elsewhere on the body, gently smooth into the skin until the cream is absorbed.

To deeply nourish hard working, dry hands: apply liberally, cover with gloves and leave overnight.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The best moisturiser for winter This is the thickest moisturising moisturiser I have ever tried. It is so hydrating especially during the winter months and leaves your skin looking like glass. The only downside is that because it's so thick it can be hard to spread but I just warm it up on my hands a little bit to prevent that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant and within price range! My sister recommended this to me, i bought it, and now i recommend it to everyone. This is a great moisturiser, and my go to when my skin is feeling dry and dull. Although its probably not super needed by people with oily skin, i think everyone could find use from this product. Ways i use it: - as a moisturiser alone - as a primer under a dewy makeup look - as a mask when applied thick for a few hours for a massive hydration boost - as an under-eye cream I dont use this everyday as my skin doesnt need it, but i use regularly. This suits my sensitive skin and doesnt cause breakouts. I will continue to rebuy this product and am interested in the other items from the skin food range. + super affordable!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fab I was recommended this cream by a friend after complaining about skin feeling old and crepey! It's an intense, rich moisturizer which makes my skin feel fresh and dewy - just what I was looking for! It is super, super thick, so you don't need a lot and I find it's better to tap it into the most dry areas rather than rubbing into my whole face (it's too thick to apply all over). Overall, I'm really happy with it - especially as it's affordable enough to use every day!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So nourishing! I call this my genie in a bottle! For someone like me who has sensitive, dry skin, this is an absolute life saviour! This is always the first product I reach for when my skin is distressed as it brings immediate comfort. The silky lotion combines organic sunflower oil with natural extracts of calendula, pansy & chamomile. This works as a phenomenal moisturising treatment. It absorbs easily, a little goes a long way as it's a thick consistency, & the hydrating power is just incredible; especially during the Winter! If you're looking for a glowy finish then this you should try! It's also a gorgeous makeup base. Multi tasking too, works wonders on cuticles / hands / cracked heels & even hair! I use it mainly for my face. It's exceptionally good value!

Any good for blackhead prone skin? Wondering if this is non comedogenic as I have large pores - thanks!

Asked by: Anonymous
I wouldn’t recomment on blackhead or acne prone skin. It is quite fragranced. It is also quite thick and sticky in consistency.

Can this be used on your lips and would it help with chapped/dry lips? Thanks.

Asked by: Anonymous
I use it on my lips sometimes particularly if they’re cracked but I do find a good lip balm is better for that purpose day to day.

Can I use this cream over a face serum. I currently use The Ordinary buffet serum.  Thanks

Asked by: Anonymous
I definitley would! I'd apply serum first and let it absorp - then put the Skin Food on top as an extra, slightly thicker, more moisturising layer
