Makeup Trends 2024

Bringing us makeup trends faster than we could blink, this year has been a whirlwind of looks. With the hashtag #makeuptrends2024 getting a huge 50.3 million views on TikTok, it seems you were keen to try them all. Let’s break down the biggest makeup moments so you can tap into your fave trends - the year’s not over yet.

Starting with the green trend that took over summer, autumn and winter - brat green makeup. Created by the iconic Charlie XCX, the brat look entails grungy, just back from the club eye makeup and as much green as you can handle. A coat of Sephora Collection shade 402 Lime Zest, alongside the 12H Colorful Contour Eye Pencil in shade T-Rex should nail it. And if you thought this trend was winding down, the release of the Wicked movie has given it a whole new lease of life, witch is no bad thing.

Next up, and on the opposite end of the pantone palette, we have espresso makeup. A development on the Latte trend, think: creamy nudes and rich Coffee Bean brown shades. Lean into this cosy look with Makeup by Mario’s Ethereal Moonlight Eyeshadow Palette and INDU Stand Up Tubing Mascara in shade brown.

You might be asking what's the latest trend in beauty? Beat the herd by getting on the blonzing trend early. As the name suggests, it's a combination of blusher and bronzer. The goal is to cut out a step by creating a sun-kissed AND sculpted flush in one. To achieve this, use a deeper shade of blush and apply on the nose, forehead and cheeks for a lifted, warm look. The key to blonzing is using a blendable product and Huda Beauty’s Blush Filter is a failsafe formula. We also love using Valentino Makeup Liquirosso Blur Liquid Matte for the most natural glow.

One trend we’ll definitely be taking into 2025 is glitter faux freckles - thank you Taylor Swift. Levelling up the faux freckle trend we saw in summer, pick your fave shimmer shade (silver, gold or both) and apply over the nose and cheeks where natural freckles form. We’re recreating this using Sephora Collection’s Moving Lights Galaxy Jam in Holographic Silver - it’s a love story for sure.

Finally, a low-effort trend we can all get behind, the no mascara bold lip look. Evolving from the clean girl makeup trend we’ve seen throughout the year, this look entails natural-looking skin, zero eye makeup and a vibrant lip look. It’s sure to make a statement. Try it for yourself using the iconic Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain plus a layer of Erborian CC Crème Clair for the freshest face.

Skincare Trends 2024

Skincare lovers, this is the section for you - and with over 2.1 million views for the hashtag #skincaretrends2024 on TikTok - that's a big audience. From LED face masks to Tranexamic Acid filled products, these skincare trends are about to revolutionise your routine.

The first trend we fell for this year? Skinimalism. Proving once again that less is often more, it involves stripping back your skincare to high-quality essentials. One brand we can always trust for this is Dr Sam’s skincare. Bringing her effective Harley Street Treatments to the masses, Dr Sam’s 5-step Clarity Kit makes clear skin simple. We also love Tatcha for doing the essentials *really* well. Invest in a top quality moisturiser like The Water Cream for radiant returns.

A trend that’s lighting up our TikTok feeds is LED face masks. Loved for their next-level results, these have modes to suit all skin concerns ranging from plumping to reducing blemish-causing bacteria, plus they look really cool on. If you fancy the splurge, Shark CryoGlow Under-Eye Cooling & Led Repair Mask is making waves for its depuffing and texture-smoothing results. The BEAUTYPRO LED Wand is another great option for those who want to glow on-the-go.

Combining skincare with SPF products is still one of the hottest trends. Our fave brands for this are Supergoop! Glow Screen and Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Sunscreen Stick SPF30 for a base that’s sunsafe and shining. We also love Naked Sundays SPF50 Hydrating Glow Mist for topping up our hydration all day long.

We’re seeing tinted skincare take off. If you want a complexion that glows from the inside out, then go for Drunk Elephant Hue Drops. Summer Fridays Shade Drops SPF 30 Mineral Milk Sunscreen is also all over our social media feeds, alongside ILIA C Beyond Tinted Serum SPF30 which offers coverage and care rolled into one.

A brand new trend on the block? Barrier-focused skincare - and thank goodness for it! Look out for Peptides, Ceramides, Niacinamides and Lipids to replenish our skin’s outer layer. The biggest creams in this category are Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask (of course) and the iconic Skinfix Triple Lipid Barrier Cream. Stock up on both and watch your skin health thrive.

Another BIG ingredient buzzword is Tranexamic Acid. Putting away the dictionaries, Tranexamic Acid or TXA can help a variety of skincare concerns like Rosacea, Dark Spots, and Acne, while boosting the skin barrier. No wonder why so many of you love it. The products doing it best? Topicals Faded Brightening and Clearing Serum takes exfoliation to a whole new level, while Paula’s Choice Discoloration Repair Serum is best for brightening dark spots.

What do our Skincare experts think?

“This year has been all about skin health, with barrier repair being at the forefront of our minds. Taking a step back from the 12- step routine, we’re focussing on nourishing with Ceramides, Niacinamide and Lipids. It is safe to say we’ve all become true skincare experts in 2024!” - Michelle Tulley, Assistant Category Manager Skincare at Sephora UK

Fragrance Trends 2024

With the hashtag #fragrancetrend getting over 6.4 million views on TikTok, it seems you’re all searching for the hottest scents of 2024. Luckily for you, we’re on the nose with the latest fragrance trends. Scents are getting more immersive, delicious, and transportable than ever before.

Let’s start with a trend making a huge comeback, if you were an OG Impulse lover then you’ll be rejoicing at the resurgence of body mists. From Sol de Janeiro’s Delicia Drench to Ouai St Barts Hair and Body Mist, this trend is hitting all the right notes.

Sink your teeth into this next trend: gourmand scents. Food-based perfumes have taken over this year, from sweets to smoky cocktails. Leading the way is Kayali’s Yum Boujiee Marshmallow with notes of succulent Strawberry and Coconut, what a treat. We’ve also been drinking up Kilian’s Old Fashioned with Whiskey accords inspired by a single aged Malt.

Which brings us nicely onto the next trend: fully immersive scents. Scents as memories are nothing new, Maison Margiela has us cosying up By The Fireplace all winter long, but the popularity has hugely increased in 2024. So where can your scent take you? Experience Rome with Valentino Beauty’s Born In Roma Donna or relive your first crush with Charlotte Tilbury’s Love Frequency

One thing that will always stay on trend? Perfumes that are all about YOU. Ambrox is a key ingredient here, smelling slightly different on everyone to create a totally unique scent. Our trend setters are Glossier Doux, a softer sister to their iconic scent, and Commodity Paper - spritz on either and let the compliments roll in.

Bouquets are all good and well, but floral scents are always the best gift. The latest trend is modern twists on classic florals. Look to Tom Ford’s Cafe Rose or try the first ever Ozonic accords in Gucci’s Flora Gorgeous Orchid Eau de Parfum

What do our Fragrance experts think?

“2024 was the year of edible scents for fragrance! With sweet and addictive notes from comforting Vanillas to candied Cherries, giving you the perfect spritz of nostalgia.” - Elise Vano, Assistant Category Manager Fragrance at Sephora UK

Hair Trends 2024

You might be pulling your hair out over the question, what is the top haircare trend in 2024? And with the hashtag #hairtrends2024 getting over 527.9 million views on TikTok, who could blame you. But we’ve compiled the hottest haircare looks for you to recreate effortlessly at home.

Coming in at number one is wet-look shine. This year, the limit did not exist when it came to luminosity. A standout product on TikTok was Living Proof’s viral High Shine Gloss Treatment. In a rush? Reach for amika’s Flash Instant Shine Hair Gloss Mask for instantly healthier-looking hair. Plus, don’t forget our forever fave Color WOW’s Dreamcoat Supernatural Spray.

We turned to the past for one of the most popular hair trends, timeless remedies. Forget the quick fixes, everyone is loving techniques that have gone through generations. Cue inde wild’s Champi Hair Oil. Named after the ancient Ayurvedic head massage technique, this pays homage to Diipa's mother's age-old recipe for overall hair health. We love soaking up the secrets. See also, Fable and Mane’s Holi Hair Roots Oil that harnesses the centuries-old technique of hair oiling.

Scalp care is becoming an even bigger trend with stimulating products at the forefront. Straand has hit this head on with their Exfoliating Scalp Brush and Prebiotic filled Miracle Worker Scalp Scrub. Sephora Collection’s Scalp Scrub is also formidable for a full scalp reset. That’s our Sunday plans sorted.

Hair growth products are very hot right now. Key ingredients to look out for are Rosemary Oil and botanical-based formulas like Baicapil, the powerful flowering plant behind Typebea’s legendary Overnight Boosting Peptide Hair Serum

What do our Hair experts think?

Body Trends 2024

Getting a huge 21.7 million views on TikTok for the hashtag #bodytrend, it’s clear that everybody wants to know the top products in 2024. From suncare that does it all to natural deodorants, these are the trends we’re diving into, head and feet first.

One of the biggest body trends is the skinification of bodycare. Let’s break it down for you, this involves using popular skincare ingredients like Retinol and Glycolic Acid in our bodycare routines. Stock up on The INKEY List Glycolic Acid Exfoliating Body Stick to brighten pigmentation and reduce body blemishes - it’s a multitasking must-have. See also, Topicals Slather Exfoliating Serum, which uses Retinol to unlock the smoothest skin. Skinfix has nailed the trend (don’t they always), by making their viral Triple Lipid Formula in a bodycare version. Besides the ultra-nourishing formula, we can’t wait to turn our bathroom shelves blue - matching skincare and bodycare bottles are always in.

Another viral bodycare trend that feels as good as it looks is suncare. Forget the white cast formulas your parents used to cover you in, SPF has gotten sexy. The trend is multi-use suncare products that protect our skin and project our glow. One of our fave products for this is Sol de Janeiro’s Rio Radiance Body Lotion, delivering suncare with a radiant shimmer - SPF has never smelt so good. We love Naked Sundays SPF50 Golden Glow Body Cream for a sun-safe and sunkissed look. This formula contains Green Tea to multitask as your firming lotion, hydrating cream, and high-performance SPF - tick, tick, tick.

One more trend your skin will thank you for, switching out Aluminum for natural deodorants. If you like a musky scent go for Salt & Stone's cult Santal and Vetiver Deodorant that provides 24-hour protection. Or, MALIN+GOETZ Bergamot Deodorant will leave you feeling super fresh and nourished. Prefer something sweeter? Sol de Janeiro’s Rio Deo Aluminum-Free Deodorant Cheirosa is for you.

The final trend to lap up is *really* luxurious shower gels. TikTok has been loving L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil for its sensorial, spa-level experience. Our Sephora Collection Bubble Bath & Shower Gel in Argan has a similar melting texture with a silky soft finish. Like a rich foam? Try Necessaire The Body Wash in Eucalyptus, and transform your shower into a rainforest.

What do our Body experts think?

“The skin on our body deserves the same care and attention as our face. We’ve seen body products take a step up with the power of active ingredients and hardworking formulas - now extending past just a self-care ritual.” - Lauren Parker, Assistant Category Manager Skincare at Sephora UK
